About Sutter & St. P Booksellers
Sutter & St. P Booksellers was established in 2025 and proudly offers a wide range of used and collectible books.
Our inventory is generalist and includes a range of subject matter, but our personal areas of specialty include Literary Fiction, Poetry, Speculative Fiction, Religion/Philosophy, and Metaphysics/Occult titles. We also offer an array of signed editions, first editions, and antiquarian books.
SSTP is a member of the Texas Booksellers Association and the Independent Online Booksellers Association.
Who We Are:
- We're book nerds. Like many of us in the trade, we started selling books because we're collectors ourselves. We love books. We love paper. We love words. We love art. We love books that are also art. We love art that happens to also be books.
- We have decades of combined experience in bookselling and book collecting. From front-end retail bookstores to public libraries to book arts/repair to used bookselling, we’ve spent the better portion of our lives in the stacks.
- St. P (he/him...also not really a saint) is the armchair-and-smoking-jacket nerd with specialties in poetry, classics, and literary fiction, and Sutter (she/they) is the geeky weirdo who specializes in speculative fiction, metaphysics/occult, and religion/spirituality.
- And finally: yes, we’re a married couple. This isn’t really an important detail, but it does allow us to give a shout-out to the legendary indie bookstore BookPeople in Austin, TX, because that’s where we met as employees approximately eight zillion years ago. If you’re in ATX, stop by BookPeople and see why they’re still killing it after all these years.
Our Position on Generative AI
- We do not knowingly use generative AI. Ever. What this means is that every book description on our site is written by us. All photos of books on our site or on our marketplace sites are taken by us and are of the exact copy you will receive when ordered. Every piece of marketing and website copy is written by us. Wild typos and lamentable errors are all ours. All art on our site is created by us, unless it’s been created by another human being that we’ve paid to do that work for us. We’re an organic intelligence business, and we believe in human creativity.
